ChatGPT Hits 800M Weekly Users

ChatGPT reached a big milestone. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman revealed that the model now serves 800 million weekly active users, spanning consumers, developers, enterprises, and governments.

What’s driving the surge: Recent feature launches have transformed ChatGPT from a playground into a platform.

  • Pulse, a personalized morning brief tool

  • Sora 2, a new video model with its own social network

  • Stripe-backed “agentic commerce” integrations for in-chat transactions

Altman says 4 million developers have built with OpenAI so far, and the company now processes 6 billion tokens per minute.

Big picture: Despite market chatter about overvaluation, ChatGPT’s usage curve shows sticky growth—a signal that AI adoption is still accelerating with no clear signs of slowing down.

Huawei’s Open-Source Shortcut to Smaller LLMs

Huawei’s Zurich lab just dropped SINQ, a new open-source quantization method that shrinks LLM memory use by up to 70% while maintaining quality.

How it works: SINQ uses dual-axis scaling and Sinkhorn normalization to cut model size. What that means? Large LLMs like Llama, Qwen, and DeepSeek run efficiently on cheaper GPUs (even RTX 4090s instead of $30K enterprise-grade chips).

Why it matters: As models scale, energy and cost are becoming major choke points. SINQ offers a path toward more sustainable AI—especially as deals like OpenAI and AMD’s 6 GW compute partnership (enough to power 4.5 million homes) push the industry’s energy footprint to new highs.

Deloitte Rolls Out Claude to 470,000 Employees

The business world is rapidly getting on board with AI. One of the latest examples: Deloitte is rolling out Anthropic’s Claude to 470,000 employees across 150 countries, marking the company’s largest enterprise deployment yet.

The deal:

  • Deloitte will build custom Claude “personas” for accountants, developers, and consultants.

  • A dedicated Claude Center of Excellence will help teams integrate the assistant into daily workflows.

Anthropic is also teaming up with IBM to integrate Claude into software and accelerate enterprise-ready AI. Anthropic, now valued at $183 billion, is tripling its global workforce to support enterprise adoption.

Why it matters: As AI assistants mature, they’re finding their footing inside enterprises. The Deloitte and IBM deals aren’t just wins for Anthropic—they show we’re racing towards a future where AI models become standard-issue for every desk job.
