Meta scales up
Welcome back, everyone! Starling Bank just launched a new AI feature that breaks down your spending habits in brutal detail. For example, it can tell you how much you spent at McDonald’s last month. And whether that number makes you laugh or cry, one thing’s clear: AI is inching closer to our wallets, calendars, and decisions.
What part of your life could use an AI upgrade?
And real quick: OpenAI’s 400 million ChatGPT users reported “elevated error rates” worldwide earlier this week…and the outage lifted the curtain on just how many people are using AI at work.
So my question for you: Are you one of them? |

Everything Apple didn’t say out loud

Tim Cook at Apple WWDC 2025, USA Today
Apple’s WWDC 2025 was a firehose of product news, from AI integrations to spatial widgets. But let’s talk about what it all really meant.
Apple's AI assistant is now a system feature. Re-meet Apple Intelligence: a system-wide AI that summarizes text messages, suggests edits, and helps with everyday tasks. Siri got a glow-up too, with ChatGPT-style responses built in. Apple even brought back its search feature Spotlight.
Here’s what happened:
Siri can now use ChatGPT (with permission).
Notes finally arrived on Apple Watch.
iOS 26 and macOS Sequoia introduced deeper AI suggestions and new system commands.
Apple "Sherlocked" popular tools like Riverside, Flighty, and Alex for Xcode—by baking similar features right into its OS.
The bigger picture: Instead of creating the next GPT, Apple is integrating what's already here, elegantly and slowly turning your iPhone into an ambient AI assistant that doesn’t need to shout to be smart.
Meta wants Scale
Meta is considering a multi-billion-dollar investment in Scale AI, according to Bloomberg. The potential deal, which could be valued as high as $15 billion, would be one of the largest external AI bets in Silicon Valley to date.
Backstory: Scale AI specializes in data labeling and model evaluation. It powers the backbones of models from OpenAI, Cohere, and yes, Meta itself. Meta has already spent big on compute and talent, partnering with chipmakers, and building Llama models. Now? It’s ready to pay for the plumbing.
Why it matters: While OpenAI builds in-house and Anthropic crafts its models top-down, Meta is carving a new path—outsource the infrastructure, own the distribution. This move reflects a brutal truth in today’s AI race: If you can’t build it, buy it (fast).
ChatGPT just got more human
OpenAI rolled out major updates to its Voice Mode, giving ChatGPT smoother, more natural speech—with human-like intonation and real-time translation.
What’s new:
Responses now sound more conversational, with improved pacing and tone.
ChatGPT can translate between languages mid-conversation.
The feature is rolling out gradually across mobile, with broader access expected soon.
Zoom out: From eerily human voices to hyperreal avatars, the line between assistant and companion is blurring.
